Summary: a brief statement of the content of the report
Western Europe is a very dynamic area for the furniture sector. It accounts for about a third of world furniture production, with Italy and Germany leading the field, followed at some distance by a lively France and the suffering United Kingdom and Spain.
About half of world furniture imports takes place in Western Europe, with Germany, France and the United Kingdom being the leaders, followed by the Belgium and Spain.
And Western Europe is also home to some of the world recognized export leaders. Among them Italian, German, French and Danish companies.
Despite the year 2009 will close with modest results all over Europe, prospects are for a (slow) recovery of the market for the year 2010. And it is worth noticing that the furniture market in Western Europe accounts for about 40 billion Euro (at production prices) and it is made of 400 millions of inhabitants.
