France is Europe's fourth consumer of home furniture after Germany, the UK and Italy: with a volume of consumption of Euro 13.3 billion it provides 13% of total European demand.
The specialist channel in France handles more than 86% of home furniture sales. Buying groups and franchises (UCEM, Mobilier Européen, MDF, Pem, Gram, Maxiam, etc.) had a market share of 37% in 2010. Independent furniture chains (IKEA, Alinéa, Conforama, etc.) accounted for 32%. Both this categories showed significant growth since 2006.
