With home furniture sales a little over Euro 20 billion, Germany confirms to rank first in Europe for the consumption of home furniture.
Where Germany effectively differs – if compared to other European markets - is in the large number of buying groups. Among them, Begros groups together extremely large chains (as Lutz and Porta Möbel); other relevant players are Union, EMV Europa Moebel Verbund and VME. The buying groups in Germany also include a large number of kitchen and bathroom specialists, such as Der Kreis, which has several chains and franchises. Franchises do not rank very highly in furniture distribution in Germany: the leader is Bo Concept, with 16 outlets on the German market.
The analysis of the home furniture retail industry in Germany includes short profiles of major home furniture distributors with analyses of sales performances and retail formats (bedroom specialists, DIY, furniture discount stores, kitchen and bathroom specialists, large-scale furniture specialists, specialists in RTA furniture/jeune habitat).
