Summary: a brief statement of the content of the report
Furniture consumption in Spain accounted for about Eur 8 billion in 2008. The Spanish furniture market has been one of the fastest growing furniture markets in Europe over the last decade, with greater purchasing power enabling more discretionary spending on home furnishings and houseware products.
Even if recently imports recorded a hard contraction, the country remains the fifth European importer following Germany, France, the UK and Belgium. China and Indonesia are between the main countries of origins of imports. In the last six years imports from Portugal also recorded good performances.
CSIL study The furniture industry in Spain offers a comprehensive picture of the Spanish furniture industry, providing trends in furniture production and consumption, furniture imports and exports.
Spanish furniture production is broken down by product (office, upholstered furniture, kitchen, bedroom, dining and living room furniture, other seating and other furniture and parts) as well as furniture consumption.
Spanish furniture imports and exports are differentiated by country of origin/destination and by product (office furniture, upholstered furniture, kitchen furniture, bedroom furniture, dining and living room furniture, non-upholstered seats, other furniture, furniture parts and seating parts).
21 short profiles are provided for the major Spanish furniture manufacturers of office furniture and home furniture: addresses are given, information on product mix, export activity, employees, turnover, brands, parent and subsidiary companies are included when available.
Products covered include: office furniture, home furniture, kitchen furniture, upholstered furniture (soft furniture), non-upholstered seats (chairs), bedroom furniture, dining room furniture, living room furniture, seats parts, parts of furniture.
