Summary: Highlights of this Report

By the end of 2010, MENA countries had largely recovered from the global financial crisis, and growth rates had been expected to reach pre-crisis levels in 2011. Events in early 2011 which led to swift regime change in Tunisia and Egypt, and ongoing challenges in Bahrain, Libya, Syria and Yemen, have affected the short-term macroeconomic outlook and the status and speed of economic reforms in the region.
As far as lighting sector is concerned, in 2010, production amounted to US$ 867 million whereas the consumption reached US$ 1.9 billon. Both production and consumption values grew in 2010 compared with 2009, respectively by 8.2% and 3%. It is worth mentioning that in the MENA countries penetration of foreign lighting fixture is very high; indeed 63% of lighting consumption is related to imported products.

Countries considered in the report: Gulf Countries (Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman); North African Countries (Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco) and Other Middle East countries (Lebanon and Jordan).

The second edition of the report The lighting fixtures market in the MENA countries offers an accurate comprehensive picture of the Middle East and North African lighting fixtures market, providing 2006-2010 trends (in value) of lighting production, consumption, imports and exports and offering the lighting consumption breakdown by residential and technical lighting fixtures for the year 2010 (in value).

Distribution channels, Mark up and Reference Prices of the lighting market in the MENA region are further considered.

The report includes production and consumption values, international trade values, short profiles of the main players and data of the main importers and retailers for each country analyzed as well as some basic data on population, GNP, inflation and main demand drivers indicators (number of tourists, mall based footfall, etc.).
