Residential construction sales and consumption of home furniture in Italy, 2019-2024 trend. Index numbers (2019 = 100)
Source: CSIL Processing
With a value exceeding Euro 18 billion, Italy continues to rank as the fourth-largest European home furniture market, after Germany, the United Kingdom, and France. Despite factors affecting demand such as inflation, reduced tax incentives, a slowdown in residential construction investments, and overall economic uncertainty, the home furniture market in Italy has remained largely stable, with varying performance across different channels and product segments.
Italian companies continue to satisfy the majority of domestic demand for home furniture. While imports still account for a smaller share compared to the average of other major European markets, recent years have seen a gradual increase in market openness.
CSIL Research Report ‘La distribuzione del mobile in Italia. Analisi per provincia’ (in Italian language) offers a detailed analysis of the evolution of home furniture distribution in Italy from 2019 to 2024, exploring the main factors influencing demand and examining consumption by sector and distribution dynamics at national and regional levels, with consumption and estimated home furniture absorption by province.
