Vietnam Mattress Industry: Key Insights

Vietnam has become one of the mattress industry’s key production hubs — not through domestic brand strength, but by hosting the manufacturing operations of international players redirecting supply chains away from China and the US.

  • Market trends

Strongly export-driven: roughly three-quarters of Vietnamese production leaves the country. Where it goes has shifted dramatically — Japan has overtaken the US as the leading destination as manufacturers restructure sourcing around antidumping measures and weaker American demand, rather than any loss of competitiveness.

  • Competitive landscape

An active manufacturing hub: domestic latex and foam specialists (Kymdan, Lien A, Hava’s) operate alongside major international manufacturers using Vietnam as a production base — Wanek Furniture (Ashley’s Vietnamese arm), Nitori (Japan), Glory Industry and DeRUCCI (China). Investment here is overwhelmingly foreign-inbound, expanding capacity to serve export markets rather than domestic-led.

  • Recent moves

Foreign manufacturing investment continues to expand.

    • DeRUCCI’s new flagship store and VINABEDDING joint venture in Ho Chi Minh City (May 2026)
    • DeRUCCI’s wholly-owned manufacturing subsidiary in Vietnam (May 2025)
    • Wanek Furniture’s plan to grow Vietnamese capacity by 30% over five years (March 2025)
