Poland Upholstered Furniture Market: Key Insights

Poland is one of Europe’s most important upholstered furniture manufacturing platforms, built on cost competitiveness and proximity to Germany. The domestic market plays a comparatively marginal role in the industry’s overall business, which is oriented primarily toward supplying the rest of the continent.

  • Market trends

Overwhelmingly export-driven, with the large majority of production shipped abroad, Germany far and away the leading destination. Domestic consumption, though small, is itself increasingly import-dependent — a growing share now comes from China — meaning Poland exports finished goods while importing a rising share of what its own consumers buy, a dual dynamic also visible in its mattress industry.

  • Competitive landscape

A mix rather than purely fragmented: well-established Polish manufacturers (Comforty, Adriana, Steinpol Meble, Mirjan) alongside subsidiaries of foreign groups — chiefly German — that chose Poland as a production base for its skilled, cost-competitive workforce. Investment is significantly foreign-inbound, with international manufacturing groups continuing to expand and consolidate capacity in the country, even as some domestic players push into direct-to-consumer and e-commerce to reduce reliance on subcontracting.

  • Recent moves

International manufacturing consolidation is the dominant current theme.

    • Leggett & Platt’s acquisition of Gabriel’s FurnMaster business, including its Polish and Lithuanian operations (July 2026)
    • Mirjan24’s new high-bay warehouse and entry into the Austrian market with a new e-commerce platform (2026)
    • DFS Furniture’s completion of its efficiency programme a year ahead of schedule (September 2025)
