Türkiye Upholstered Furniture Market: Key Insights

Türkiye’s upholstered furniture industry is organised around large, vertically integrated national brands combined with cluster-based manufacturing capacity. Ownership at the top of the sector is currently being reshuffled, with two of the country’s largest historical brands changing hands through state-managed sale processes within the same two-year window.

  • Market trends

A largely self-sufficient domestic market — imports cover only a modest share of consumption, even after a recent uptick — combined with meaningful export orientation, with a large share of production sold abroad. Iraq is the leading export destination by a wide margin, ahead of Germany and France, a geographic profile distinct from most other producers in this report.

  • Competitive landscape

Dominated by large, vertically integrated national brands that combine manufacturing, distribution and retail under one roof, giving them broad domestic visibility, alongside a fragmented base of smaller manufacturers and regional exporters. Investment and ownership activity is currently concentrated domestically, through state-organised sale processes (TMSF) for major historical brands, rather than significant foreign direct investment in either direction.

  • Recent moves

Ownership transitions at the top of the industry are the defining current theme.

    • İstikbal Mobilya’s acquisition by Paşalı Group (renamed Avek Group), following a failed 2025 auction (July 2026)
    • Bellona’s sale via TMSF-organised tender to a company formed by its own dealer network (May 2025)
    • İpek Mobilya’s decision to cease all production activities, citing rising costs (April 2025)
