Gardens, terraces and balconies have increasingly become an extension of living rooms, dining rooms and kitchens. Barriers between indoor and outdoor are disappearing and garden furniture tends to imitate indoor furniture (living room). The growing need for nature and the desire to spend more time outdoors have resulted in an increasing willingness of European consumer to spend more money for the garden sector. In fact, over the last decade, the outdoor European furniture sector has been growing relatively faster than the furniture market. In particular the average annual growth of outdoor furniture consumption over the period time 2001-2007 was 2.8%, while the total furniture market registered an average annual growth of 1.9%.
