Furniture China 2019 Shows a Notable Growth in Its 25th Anniversary

The 25th edition of China International Furniture Expo (also known as Furniture China 2019) ended on a considerable high note, in terms of visitor quality, exhibit range and the business touches. Exhibiting for 4-day with its concurrent shows – Maison Shanghai and Furniture Manufacturing & Supply China (FMC China) – Furniture China has welcomed attendees of 170,057 from 160 countries and regions, which indicates a growth by 2.15% compared with the year of 2018.

The High-end Furniture Market

The world market for high-end furniture is worth approximately US$ 50 billion including high end – design furniture and contract furniture for high-end projects, such as five stars hotels, yachts, luxury private villas, etc. that represent around 30% of the market. The world market for high-end furniture is a concentrated one: the top 10 countries in the market absorb over 80% of the total high-end furniture; North America and Asia and Pacific, including China, being the main markets.

According to CSIL Market Research Report Africa Furniture Outlook (March 2019), almost 70% of the total furniture market in Africa is satisfied by local manufacturers.

 

Total Africa furniture production amounts to US$ 7.5 billion and only 10% of furniture manufactured in Africa is exported (main exporting countries are Egypt, South Africa, Morocco and Tunisia). Several African countries have good potential for developing their furniture industry, both for internal consumption and for exports.

 

For Africa as a whole, a 2.4% growth of furniture consumption in real terms is expected for the year 2020.

 

 

CSIL analyses the Top 200 manufacturing companies operating in the furniture sector

With an extensive analysis that led to the publication of the Market Research Report ‘Top 200 furniture manufacturers worldwide’ (March 2019), CSIL identified the leading players operating in the furniture sector (definition of ‘top company’ relates to the value of furniture turnover).

 

Altogether, the Top 200 companies produced a total turnover of around USD 150 billion, of which, around USD 100 billion relate specifically to the furniture sector (or about 20% of world furniture production).

 

 

 

 

MIFF 2019 breaks billion dollar sales at 25th anniversary edition

Malaysian exhibitors at MIFF 2019 raked in US$ 1.01 billion in sales over four days from March 8-11, up 3% increase from the previous high of US$ 984 million in 2018.
