In the CSIL report ‘E-commerce for the furniture industry’ (Dec 2020) already emerged a fast increase in online sales among the largest furniture retailers, while also manufacturers started to sell through their own web platforms. Pushed by the pandemic, e-commerce is estimated by CSIL to represent 10% of the worldwide furniture consumption in 2020.

CSIL participated in the 10th edition of Global Office Furniture Outlook (GOFO), a seminar organized by CIFF and Edimotion during the 2nd phase of China International Furniture Fair Guangzhou, where international speakers debated matters regarding the new work-spaces and constant change in the working habits of people.
Mauro Spinelli, CSIL Partner and expert in the research field of office furniture, delivered a speech presenting the expected trends 2019-2020 in the use of office products in a continuous transformation of the office paradigms.

According to CSIL, the furniture market is forecasted to grow worldwide in the next years. The fastest growing region continues to be Asia and Pacific, with all other regions growing between 1% and 3% in real terms.
In terms of international trade of furniture, all the leading markets have shown a greater degree of openness in the last decade. Naturally there are still important differences among various national markets.
France is the fifth largest furniture exporter in Europe, the eleventh at a global level. With a production of furniture reaching around Eur 7 billion in 2017 and an export on production ratio of about 30% (23% in 2012), the country shows a large potential in the coming years.
