The European lighting fixtures market

The European lighting fixtures consumption registered in 2011 a slight encrease, worth +1.9%. Imports registered an increase of 5.7%, while exports, after the dramatic slump of 2009, steadily increased in the two consecutive years and reached EUR 7946 million, recording a more marked 9.5% growth. Due to a good performance on international markets, European production increased by 4% in the year.
Consumption has been sustained exclusively by the technical segment (+3.4%) as residential lighting fixtures remained pretty stable (-0.2%).
As regarding lighting sources, LED based luminaires registered a boom, increasing by almost 60% compared to 2010
In 2011, the top 20 players in Western Europe controlled over 50% of the EU 16 production of lighting fixtures.
The e-commerce distribution channel registered a two digit growth during last year.
