Production of office furniture in Asia Pacific and China amounts to around US$ 24 billion. In 2020, China, the main producing country in the area, Taiwan and Vietnam have been able to increase their production level, despite the drop in their local consumption due to lockdown measures, exporting the majority of office furniture output to neighboring and worldwide destinations.
In terms of demand of office furniture, the Asia-Pacific region is still experiencing uncertainties due to the pandemic. While original office space is reducing, however, hybrid workstyle and remote working are expanding. Thus, the CSIL outlook for the office furniture consumption in the area is positive for 2021 and 2022, with different performance among countries.
Office chairs represented the most requested product in the year of pandemic. Pushed by the increasing working from home the market demand increased significantly worldwide.
